Part 1: Data centers are not built with cables alone
Data centers are being built in Finland faster than ever. At the same time, competition for materials, production capacity and expertise is growing. Large projects run on tight schedules, with little room for delays. That is why it makes sense to think about cable solutions well before placing the first order.
Cables account for only a small share of the total investment in a data center, but their role is critical. Without reliable power distribution, not a single server will start.
Still, cables are often seen as something that can be sourced later. But with large data centers being built across Europe at the same time, all competing for many of the same materials, we can no longer take availability for granted.
But securing cable availability starts long before the purchasing stage. It starts with better planning and early collaboration. In our next article, we’ll look at how early decisions can improve supply security and help keep data center projects on track.
